Superleague Formula have doubled the number of rounds on their calendar for the forthcoming season.

Ahead of its third year, 12 races will feature on the increasingly popular football-themed championship. Britain, Germany and Spain will each feature two rounds, whilst the series also welcomes six new circuits.

One of those is Silverstone, which will play host to the season opener on April 3-4 before moving on to Assen in Holland in mid-May, and former Formula One venue Magny-Cours a week later. The season will end in late November at a track yet to be confirmed, with Superleague hoping to expand into the Middle East or South America.

SF competition's director Robin Webb said: "There is a great mix of circuits, with some existing and ex-F1 venues supplemented by regional tracks which are ideal given their location.

"We are still looking at one or two non-European rounds at the end of the year.

"We are getting offers from outside of Europe, and our two major targets are the Middle East and South America.

"With more established drivers also taking an interest in Superleague, I'm confident 2010 will prove a vintage season."
